We’ve been running a series of stories lately that concentrate on the health of DJs who do a lot of touring. Those DJs are under a tremendous amount of pressure. So much so that they are consistently under both physical and mental pressure.

Avicii had to retire at the age of 26 after developing at least one unfortunate addiction. Moby is touring North America promoting a book he just published that outlines his own struggles with his personal demons.

In response to the recent spate of DJ confessions about what they got involved with and how they managed to get out, is Chuckie’s answer to the whole problem.

Chuckie, aka Clyde Sergio Narain, takes a tough love approach to those DJs who’ve had issues. He tells them to “man up.” He argues that a lot of DJs who suddenly find fame just don’t like to work hard or accept the fact that with fame comes a lot of responsibility.

I think he’s right on a certain level. When your entourage is telling you how great you are, it’s easy to get caught up in that and develop an attitude of entitlement. But, it’s also easy to pass judgment and tell other DJs that they have to be smart about touring. Everyone has his own struggles.

What do you think is the toughest part of touring?
