Remember this number: $416 million. That is the revenue from vinyl records. It’s a 32% increase from last year. Vinyl sales haven’t been anywhere close to that revenue amount since 1988.

Despite the world going digital in every way possible, enough of us still cherish that old vinyl experience. It’s not just DJs buying up records either. It’s anyone, from practically every generation, who’s looking for the characteristic sound that you can only get from vinyl.

There’s a warmth to that scratchiness that draws the ears in a way that the cold, perfect sound of digital doesn’t. “Many music lovers are finding that connection in vinyl,” says Skratch Bastid (aka Paul Murphy). “[Records are] a real, physical object that not only contains the music but also represents the fan’s support and commitment.”
