Believe it or not, you can learn a lot from Paris Hilton.

No one’s quite sure why Paris Hilton is famous. But, that was never a problem for her. Instead, she used it as a jumping off point to grow her career opportunities. We all know where that took her, right? She became a DJ.

Take note. You can do a similar thing. If you want to grow your career, you may have to step out of your comfort zone. Do you usually just play sports arena? That’s a great gig. But, maybe you should consider trying clubs. The idea here is that the more experience you have with different styles and different venues, the more employable you are. You still need to know what you’re doing, though. So, don’t jump into something without doing a lot of practicing first.

If you’re offered a gig spinning a genre you’re not used to, you’re probably not going to turn it down. But, you should take a step back and at least give it a bit of thought. Can you actually do a good job? An opportunity to work is nothing to throw away. But, if you don’t know what you’re doing, maybe you should hold off until you can handle it. That’s your decision to make. In the end, whatever genre or venue you’re used to playing for money shouldn’t limit what you practice within the privacy of your own home. Learn as much as you can, then go out and market your varied talents!
