Looking for some audio inspiration? Here’s something new for you. Michael Ridge, a multimedia artist out of the UK, has been experimenting with sound for a few years now. This particular project, called “Seagull Skull Pickup” is nothing if not interesting.

Ridge uses an actual seagull skull as a needle. He places the beak on a record and powers up the turntable. What emerges is the sound of birds singing, which is what is recorded on the record. The fact that the skull picks up the recording is pretty cool.
