By now you’ve probably heard of Facebook Live. Now, DJs want to make use of that accessible format to showcase their mixes. The difficulty is that as soon as you publish music that’s not your own original creation, you run into the copyright wall. Even if you are not planning on making any money from publishing your mixes, you’re still subject to those laws.
A bunch of DJs have come together on ipetitions.com to request amnesty from copyright law. If you’re interested in supporting the cause and eventually perhaps even changing the laws, check out the petition here.

I believe that we should be able to do live I did it last week I had people log into watch it when I got home it was taken down by Facebook saying copy right and it was only one hour set
Mixes from all genres
Signed
of course they take it down…. think about it a second dj’s. how does the artist get paid for their work? whats the incentive for the artists to go back to work to create more new good stuff. they got to see an income of some sort…. online downloads already are down to percentages of a cent per d/l per artist…. imagine if you went to work all day and maybe you will get paid and if you do… a percentage of a cent….not cool right. if Facebook allowed all the dj mixes to be available on demand it would be an unjust blow to the artists they would lose extreme sales revenue just from the free access they would have by sharing a mix to their page or group where it would be indefinitely on demand to anybody …..i think , that if we are allowed to save our mixes to be remote on demand access then the dj should have his own streaming license and pay into ASCAP or BMI or any competent royalty collection agency….. but what do i know .
You are talking about Dj’s that will mix in and out of songs. Not play the whole song. Have you ever heard the expression Bad publicity is better then No publicity. Take away the word Bad and think. People will hear a song and say “wow I remember that song or damn I want that song and go pay to download it. Maybe Dj’s will hear 2 songs mixed together from a Dj and it sounds excellent and they will go to sites like Mymp3pool to get both or 1 of the songs to play at a gig and then people might like it too. and then…. There is money that they would have never gotten.
