Never Do This If You Want To Get Hired!
Every DJ on earth wants to know the answer to the same question: how do I get more (and better paying) clients?
We’ve helped you out here at MMP with lots of advice about how to promote yourself, how to put together a professional press kit, and how to act around other DJs and club owners. So, let’s turn things around a bit. Instead of going over the same advice again today. I want to give you an example of what not to do.
Nergal Youkhana, owner of event organizer Charades, gave In The Mix magazine a sample email he received from a DJ looking for a job.
The email reads as follows:
“Attention Promoters and DJ Booking, I am the best Underground DJ in the United States and looking to get Booked. I am sending you this email for residency and bookings. I play Electro, Trance, Techno and House. I am not mainstream EDM and I have been DJing since 1997. I Let my music do the talking!!!! This is my Soundcloud page link. On this site there are three mixes one House, Electro and Techno. MY Music speaks for itself so theres no BIO. Please use this email for a response back to Booking me.”
Nergal’s response:
The DJ’s response:
“Nergal, your disrespect will not be taken lightly. I am not from this planet and you are lucky a spirit did not come down and end you. You could have been put you in the chambers for the email you sent. You have know idea who you disrespected and people like you will not be on my fathers planet very long. Jesus father is God and Mine is the son of the creator of all life and yes the creator of God. I can’t believe that i actually took time to respond to your email and tell you these facts. Forward this and my logo on to everyone you know and cc all those people again. This is no joke I ended the invasion that was meant to end the human race with my powers in the last 5 years. I sent this email out to thousands to test the underground. You are lucky you walk my fathers planet this very second.”
So, what do you think? Should he get the gig?
