Remember how recently I wrote about how kids seem to be the newest darlings of the DJ industry? Well, here’s another one.

DJ D-ILL is 11 years old. He’s also a dedicated DJ (after school and on weekends, I hope). The fact that kids can dj is awesome. It speaks to the fact that working with equipment that constitutes a dj’s livelihood is really not rocket science.

I don’t want to imply that just anyone can walk up to a set of turntables and somehow produce the most amazing set. But, unlike learning how to play an instrument that might take years of practice before it sounds like music, dj-ing offers even beginners success right off the bat. After a few tries, most people would be able to produce a few bars of cool sounds. That’s the start of creativity, and it’s an encouraging place for a child to be.
