Welcome to the wacky world of Venezuelan politics. Over the past year, Venezuela’s citizens have been forced to endure famine, poverty, corruption, and violence. But, don’t worry. President Nicolás Maduro has a plan. He’s going to be a DJ.
Maduro, if nothing else, is a huge fan of music, especially salsa. After announcing the 2-day work week as a way to combat energy shortages, Maduro now has another idea. He’s hosting a radio show every Tuesday and Thursday called The Salsa Hour. The show is four hours long and features samba, political discussion, and letters from supporters.
Venezuela’s problems are absolutely dire, and its humanitarian crisis gets worse every day. Somehow, I just don’t see DJing distracting citizens from the country’s problems.
