In our series on work opportunities for DJs, we’ve covered the sports arena DJ before. Here’s one more reason why DJing is vital to sports.

The NBA is very aware of the fact that sports is not just sports. It’s entertainment. It’s what helps all of us relax after a long week at work – whether you love your job or not. The fact that we all value entertainment is no surprise. Where do you think all those million dollar salaries come from? Advertisers know that we love watching sports. And many of us are perfectly fine spending lots of money on tickets, promotional gear, and food at the arena.

Sports franchises know that music forms the sound track of our lives. They want to make sure that there’s great music playing whether the team wins or loses because then we’ll have great memories of the experience, and we’ll want to come back for more.

So, unlike the NHL, NFL, and MLB, the NBA is all about pleasing the crowd. They let their players show their individuality on and off the court. They want the spectators to be individuals, too. So, the NBA has pushed the idea of encouraging fans to come to the games for an individualized experience like no other. They make that happen thanks to the in-arena DJ.

The DJ spins live. DJ Tigger who spins for the Hawks said viaΒ Uproxx, “music is a part of everyone’s life all the time, so the job of the arena DJ is to tap into the energy of the building and enhance the experience of the fans.”
