I find it really strange when I hear someone rave about a concert where the singer lip-synched the entire show. There was a time when doing that would have spelled the end of that singer’s career. It’s just accepted now. More than that, there’s a huge population of fans who actually want the singer to lip-sync. Why? I guess because they want to hear the songs exactly as they were recorded.

Lucky for us, DJing is different. You can make mistakes. You can be creative. And people will still love it.

There’s authenticity in mistakes and creativity. Doing things a little bit differently for each show or owning up to a mistake in an honest (and engaging) way is endearing. It will make the crowd want more of you.
