Here’s a question: has DJing lost its integrity? In other words, are DJs so busy criticizing each other’s choices that the art of DJing is suffering? All those turntablists who put down CDJ lovers, all those RAP artists who can’t stand EDM … is all that animosity really adding something good to the DJ tradition. Are we all just working out what constitutes a standardized approach to DJing?

I would argue that these hate-ons happen when a music genre becomes successful. There are lots of noses out of joint. But, in the end, we all benefit if we just stick to our own goals. Yeah, I know that’s kind of a surface-level, feel-good way of looking at the state of the music industry. But, I think holding on to the big picture only makes us better at what we do.

Let me know where you stand.
