Travel much? As a DJ, you’ve probably done your share of travelling. Although DJ Snake, Kygo, and other famous DJs can make a lot of money from streaming revenue, most of us have to play gigs to earn a living. If you spend your time working within your city, then this news won’t affect you. But, if you’re a DJ who plays gigs all over the country, you’re going to have to reassess the required documents that you carry on a regular basis through your travels.

The Real ID Act that came into affect in 2005 states that everyone must carry state-issued ID that meets the federal government’s minimum security standards. As of today, nine states have not complied. So, if you travel in and out of these nine states, you must show an official passport and a second piece of official ID (as necessary).

If you also have a permanent resident card or a military ID, you’ll be required to show those along with your passport.

Here are the nine affected states:

  • Kentucky
  • Maine
  • Minnesota
  • Missouri
  • Montana
  • Oklahoma
  • Pennsylvania
  • South Carolina
  • Washington

How will this new rule affect you? Let us know!
