You Need To Get Out Of Your Comfort Zone Now
How many weddings have you DJed? What about sports games? Graduations? Nightclubs?
Think about your answer. If the majority – or all! – of your gigs are basically variations on a theme, you might want to re-think your strategy. I know I’ve told you a million times that you should cultivate a niche for yourself. Figure out what you do well and make that your bread and butter.
But, there’s a little more to being a great DJ in your niche area than that.
You should make an effort to step outside your comfort zone every once in a while because it makes you a better DJ in your niche area. Learn more songs from a wider variety of genres. Practice techniques that you don’t normally use. Basically, extend your ability to learn different aspects of your trade. You’ll find that when you do re-focus on your niche area, you’ll be so much better at it.
