Serato Names A New CEO
In its 18 year existence, Serato has gone through a few incarnations. But the one thing that has stayed the same is its dedication to producing products that advance the DJ industry … to varying degrees of success.
Kudos for that success must be laid at the feet of founders and creative directors Stephen West and AJ Bertenshaw who have seen the company through various ups and downs. Questionable leadership hasn’t always been the issue though. Often the threat has come directly from the competition. Pioneer, Native Instruments, and you can probably keep naming off a whole list, have introduced DJs to equipment and technology that has put Serato’s usefulness in doubt.
No matter. Serato continues to survive and even grow and excel. Most recently, Bertenshaw stepped down as the company’s CEO to return to creative development. Young Ly, currently Serato’s COO, will step up to the plate to hopefully lead the company to new and greater growth.
