There are those who say that DJing is a dead-end career choice. You can only do it for so long before you get too old or you realize that the money you’re earning just isn’t enough. At that point, if you stay in it at all, it’s as a hobby. Even many DJs, themselves, say that.
Think about it, though. It’s true that DJing isn’t like a bank position, say, where you can rise through the ranks. Spinning tunes is pretty much all DJing requires. Despite that fact, I’d say that there are lots of potential avenues to go in.
DJ Izzy, pictured above with a student, found a way to expand his business and share his expertise by opening up a DJ school.

I am 53 years old and started DJing late in life because of a military career. The high school kids that I worked with in my second career pushed me to DJ in 2004. Since then, i have expanded to the live sound/concert industry and also doing sound systems for other DJs. There are many ways to expand your DJ business depending on location and population. I will teach this school year and maybe next school year and at 55 years of age will go full time DJ and sound guy, yeeeaaaaaa baby. Go for your dreams.
