Sure, you’re a DJ. But, do you think of yourself as a small business owner, too? You should because you are.

Most DJs are very entrepreneurial. You’d have to be to earn a living in this industry. It’s tough, and you need a lot of stamina, imagination, and drive to see it through successfully.

Kam Lal, a DJ from Montreal, started working as a DJ about 20 years ago. He intended originally to work as a DJ for as long as he could. But, that natural enthusiasm for continued learning and inspiration that comes naturally to so many DJs kind of got in the way of that plan.

Within a short time, Lal had created his own startup buying and selling DJ equipment. His latest success is Notetracks Inc. It’s an app that allows users to “mark up audio files and share them with others.” Lal’s app has already taken off within the DJ industry and beyond. He’s pretty certain that it’s just going to keep growing.
