I can tell you for a fact that this situation has happened to me. I am also quite positive that this situation has happened to many of you, too. You know, you’re going along just fine, mixing, DJing, doing what you love to do. Then, everything seems to come to a screeching halt.

You stare at your equipment, but you can’t quite get yourself to put together something creative. If you force yourself, you end up with something that you’re ultimately unhappy with. All of a sudden, that fountain of creativity that you thought would never stop flowing has dried up.

What do you do? Quit DJing? Of course not.

Every creative person goes through a dry period. It could last a day or two. It could last a week or more. You never know. Although creative blocks may seem like the end of the world, there’s actually a positive side to them. They’re a kind of processing phase your brain has to go through. After a lot of time taking in new information, new music, and generally being creative, you’ve learned a lot about how to be a better DJ. Your brain needs some time to process all that new stuff you’ve learned.

Having said that though, I know that creative block can also make you feel very anxious. So in light of that, I’ve come across some tips to help you get through it.
