R. Kelly – I like that; you know, the initial-dot-surname. It’s concise, different, dignified.
Anyway, I’m not writing about him because of his name. I’m writing about him because he’s just released a new single off his upcoming album, The Buffet. And by upcoming, I mean that it will be released today.
The single “Let’s Be Real Now” features Tinashe. This break-up song has an R&B feel, but Kelly introduces some electronic and Caribbean beats. I like how this song really showcases Kelly and Tinashe’s vocals. No way would someone who can’t sing be able to do justice to this song. The only drawback for me is the lyrics:
“No disrespect to the time that we spent, but boy you must be trippin'”
Hmm, not quite your classic emotion-laden poetry.
