I guess the first question is why you would even try to mix country music into a set loaded with EDM, House, or whatever else you’re planning on spinning to get the crowd dancing.

Sometimes you might find yourself in a situation where you actually don’t mind taking a request or two. Say you’re at a wedding and the bride has a bright idea. You already worked out the playlist with both bride and groom. But, there she is standing in front of you asking if you could play some country ditty that would mean so much to her father. You want to please your client, but how are you ever going to make whatever song she wants mix cleanly into your pre-arranged playlist?

Has something like that ever happened to you? Tell us your story!

Check out these tips via Digital DJ Tips:

  • Use DJ techniques, like scratching, to cut between one track and another.
  • Introduce the country song with a voice-over, like “Yee Haw” (DJ Dr. T).
  • Stick to modern country that sounds more like pop/rock, like Keith Urban.
