Sometimes I come across stories that are just plain surprising. This one is a case in point.

Japan has just dropped its “No Dancing After Midnight” law. Or rather, the country’s legislators have redefined what was at the heart of that law and made adjustments to it.

Originally, businesses that allowed dancing fell under the banner of adult entertainment, which are regulated in Japan. The new law takes those businesses out from under that banner. Dancing after midnight is now legal, but only if the clubs are located enough of a distance away from residential areas and if lighting in the area has been upgraded.

What do you think about such strict regulations?
