On the other hand, if you’re thinking that more options mean more freedom for those of us who love to consume music in a variety of ways, you’re mistaken. The corporations at the heart of these services expect to earn a profit. They should earn their share … and so should the musicians.

In any case, the latest news is that iHeart Radio has thrown itself into the fray. It’s now looking to launch its own paid streaming service. This has never been done before by traditional radio. iHeart’s new service will launch soon once the company has secured all the music licenses it needs to proceed.
