Wineries have changed a lot over the last few decades. No longer just places where wine is made, they now host weddings, corporate events, wine and food tastings for the general public … in short, they’ve become places where all kinds of people gather.

Music is a given at every single one of these events. So DJs, add wineries to your list of job opportunities. The question is, how do you go about getting hired?

The steps to approaching a winery manager or owner are really no different than how you’d market yourself to a club manager or any other hiring manager.

First, make sure your website is up-to-date and easy to navigate. Second, be ready to hand over business cards that list all your contact information, including your website address. Third, have some mix tapes ready to give the hiring manager. Or, better yet, provide links to your mixes from  your website. Check out these tips on marketing yourself.

Once you have all these marketing steps in order, visit the winery and talk to the person in charge.

Over to you: Have you played a winery before?
