The question of what makes a real DJ always seems to pervade any discussion of the techniques, beliefs and even the lifestyle of those in the industry – whether they’re working as DJs or listening to DJs at parties. Everyone has an opinion.

Tony Fernandez at DJ Times is no different. He argues that beatmixing is a fundamental tool for DJs. Doing it right results in an exciting mix. Something that can make the listener appreciate the music in new and refreshing ways. The same can be said of all the techniques available to DJs thanks to the equipment and technology they employ every day.

We here at mp3poolonline.com are always trying to provide you with as much information as possible about all the ways you can better your DJing skills. Whether you use all, or even some, of the techniques and effects available to you is beside the point. The trick is in knowing enough about them so that you can make an informed decision.

Ultimately though, these questions always make me wonder about a larger question. Namely, what is the point of the DJ anyway? Is it to spin tunes that people love to hear in the way that they’re played on the radio? Or is it the DJs job to mix it all up?

Let me know what you think. Read the article that inspired this one here.
