DJs don’t just spin tunes. In the course of an event, every DJ will inevitably have to solve all kinds of problems from tech issues to crowd control. Now, kids are turning out to be the biggest trouble makers.

Before DJ Zimmie posted his story on his blog, almost no one was speaking out about the kind of dirty dancing they’re seeing at high school dances, sweet sixteen parties, proms, and any other event where teens, tweens, and younger kids gather to party.

C’mon DJs, we’ve all seen it. Kids grinding and dry-humping to music that’s loaded with sexually-explicit and sexually-abusive lyrics. They play at being adults without fully understanding the potential implications of what they’re hearing in the lyrics and doing out on the dance floor. Adults are as clueless. As Zimmie says, either parents don’t understand what the song is about or they don’t think what kids are hearing in those lyrics will show up in their everyday lives.

Am I being too prudish about this? If we’re honest, music and dancing always change over generations. The music and dance moves of one generation are often criticized by another generation. Is this the same thing?
