You’re a DJ. I bet you’ve never thought of yourself as a stand-up comedian. But, in a very real sense, that’s exactly what you are.

You need to be aware of the audience, its mood, timing, what material might work, what might bomb. You need to have a Plan B, to practice, practice, practice. You need to figure out how to deal with hecklers. Ok, maybe not hecklers in your case. But, we typically have to deal with audience members who want us to play their song requests, who want to tell you their life stories, who offer you DJing tips, and so on.

Whether or not you’re a naturally funny person, or know how to deal with issues well on-the-spot, a little refresher won’t hurt. Today, I came across 6 tips for DJs that cover smart and professional ways of dealing with the variety of “suggestions” an audience might throw your way during the course of a night.
