There’s always something new in the world of DJ equipment. There’s always more stuff for you to buy to add to your probably already large collection of equipment. So, today, I thought I’d pare it right down to one of the most vital pieces of equipment that is an absolute must-have for DJs – a good set of headphones.

Lots of different headphones do lots of different things. I’ve written about some here already, like the innovative all-in-one headphones by Aivvy and the EAH-T700s by Technics which is considered to be state-of-the-art. I’ve also compiled a best-to-worst list of the headphones marketed to DJs now.

Because headphones are so important to DJing, I don’t think we could ever stop talking about them. The more information we have, the better we can choose which product is right for us.

When you’re ready to buy your first set, or are replacing your old set, of headphones, here’s what you should always keep in mind:

  • your budget (obviously the most important consideration, right?)
  • the level of isolation in a noisy booth the headphones provide
  • clear bass and treble levels

Here are some that fit that criteria:

  • Sennheiser HD8 DJ ($299)
  • Pioneer HDJ-2000MK2 ($349)
  • Sennheiser HD 25 Plus ($199)
  • TMA-2 Modular Headphone System ($145)
  • RCF Iconica by Benny Benassi ($178)

Tell us which you think are the best DJ headphones.
