This one takes me back. As our tribute to Throwback Thursday, we offer you Herbie Hancock … at the Grammys.

The year was 1984. Hancock picked up the Grammy for Best R&B Instrumental. Bridging his background in jazz and the early hip hop that was nascent in the clubs at the time, Hancock wowed the audience with his live playing of “Rock it”. No doubt the robots-come-break dancers impressed everyone, too.

Hancock appeared on stage with DJ Grandmixer DST who introduced the art of scratching to the world.

Check it out.
