Still Like It Used To Be: Prejudice In The Industry
You’d think that in an industry rife with creativity that we wouldn’t be hearing stories of bias, prejudice and preconceived ideas pitting people against each other.
Sadly, whatever creativity and out-of-the-box thinking may go into the music, it’s nowhere to be seen behind executives’ closed office doors.
Case in point: Tinashe has gone on record in an interview with xoNecole to say that the challenges that women – especially black women – face in the music industry are far and above what any man faces. She explains that “the industry makes space for only one black woman at a time.”
