So, listening to his advice is probably a good thing. He wrote a piece recently for\u00a0<em>MixMag<\/em> where he revealed his one major complaint about DJs.<\/p>\n<p>He&#8217;s sick of DJs thinking they can always get away with playing the Top 10 hits. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mp3poolonline.com\/blog\/dj-steve-lawler-on-being-a-real-dj\/\">DJing is so much more than that<\/a>. It&#8217;s knowing your place in the DJ hierarchy if you&#8217;re playing a room with other DJs. It&#8217;s about knowing how to mix properly. It&#8217;s about reading the crowd.<\/p>\n<p>Each of those aspects of DJing can be broken down even further.<\/p>\n<p>His biggest pet peeve is that DJs aren&#8217;t being an A&amp;R. For those of you scratching your head right now, A&amp;R stands for Artists and Repertoire. It&#8217;s a job within the music industry responsible for finding new talent.<\/p>\n<p>Steve Lawler wants DJs to find and promote new talent.
