If you didn&#8217;t know before, you do now.<\/p>\n<p>So, some people have started asking where those women DJs play. How come most clubs hire men? And don&#8217;t give me the old argument about women somehow not being capable of the endurance necessary to play long sets. Definitely don&#8217;t tell me that the lack of women in the industry has to do with technology. Women excel at technology at the same rate as men.<\/p>\n<p>If women aren&#8217;t DJing in clubs, it&#8217;s not because there aren&#8217;t women DJs. Nor is it because they&#8217;re not capable.\u00a0<em>LA Weekly<\/em> has another answer that might just be the right one. It&#8217;s that clubs and promoters just aren&#8217;t hiring women. The general idea here is that whoever does the hiring wants to attract women to the clubs. Women DJs don&#8217;t attract women; therefore, they pass women DJs over in favor of men.<\/p>\n<p>Sure, except that there&#8217;s no truth backing that up. Women are more than willing to go to a woman-led event. It&#8217;s the quality of music and DJing that makes the difference. So, all you promoters out there. Hire women.
