I would argue that creating music has very little with how well a person plays an instrument. Look at the whole punk movement in the &#8217;80s. Part of punk was the belief that you didn&#8217;t have to know how to play an instrument at all. In fact, the worse you played (or sang) the greater success you might experience.<\/p>\n<p>The key to writing good, original music is to have an understanding of beat, rhythm, melody and what people want to hear. If you&#8217;ve got that down, you&#8217;re probably good to go.
