I mentioned a few days ago that Grandmaster Flash was one of the inspirations and creative consultants behind the upcoming Netflix show called The Get Down. In the pic above, Grandmaster Flash is sharing space with Mamoudou Athie, the actor who portrays Flash in the show.

Talk about longevity, Grandmaster Flash was there at the beginning. He was one of the founders of Hip Hop and Rap, spinning tunes in the Bronx in parks and at parties long before that new style of music got any radio air play. Yet, he’s still kicking. He’s still performing. He’s still involved in creative work, including showing other DJs how to be the best they can be.
