DJ tables are not necessarily a sexy item in the array of equipment you need and use in your DJ career, but they are an essential one. Today we share what we look for in a table, questions you should ask yourself about what you want out of a DJ table, and some of the best ones we found on the market you might want to consider. 

DJ tables should have a few features, including these from Producer Hive:

  • Adjustability: When it comes to height, DJs are different, so tables should accommodate that, meaning no crouching or hunching over it allowed. Ergonomics matter.
  • Reliability: It should be able to support the weight you are putting on it and give you the space you need to access what you want during a gig. Plus, you can’t have all your vital (read: $$$$) DJ tech stacked on it when it gives out. 
  • Durability: Since you are hauling it in and out of your car or in and out of gigs, it needs to be hearty enough to stand up to the inherent abuse with this process.
  • Brandability: It should match your brand. Clunky-looking or flimsy are not common brand values most bookers appreciate.
  • Affordability: Finding a table that does everything you want but is too expensive won’t help you.

You are choosing a table for yourself, so start by asking what you want out of the table when making a comparison. DJ Tech Reviews makes an excellent point: What you pick requires careful consideration about how you perform and the feature you will use all the time. There are a few questions that you should ask yourself, including:

How do you like to perform? 

You use the table, so you know what it needs to do. For example, if you use the computer a lot, does the table have easy access to the laptop or do you need a platform for it?

How much can it hold?

If you are hauling in a lot of stuff, can the table hold it? Is there enough working space to access all your equipment? And what about the cables? Is there sufficient cable management for your needs?

Will it work at the venues you frequent? 

The table should work in the environments where you do. So, can it fit? Will it adjust to the surroundings and tone of the event? Can you protect your equipment from spilled drinks or rowdy attendees? 

Can You Get it There?

If you are a mobile DJ that works a lot of gigs around town, you need a table that fits in your car, isn’t too heavy, and doesn’t take up too much space so you have room for everything else you need to take. Does this table fit the bill?

Obviously, there are quite a few tables to choose from, so here are a couple whose names come up a lot. 

Best Overall: The Odyssey FZF5437T Foldout Combo DJ Table

Size:                54” x 37” 

Price:              $249.95

This table gets high marks for its versatile design and portability (read: fits in your car or truck).  Plus, it looks professional, which is always great for a brand. In addition, the Odyssey is durable and appropriate for various venues. 

DJ Tech Reviews cautions you to watch the corners so that you don’t the floors at the venue. Also, watch your fingers when folding; this table can pinch. 

Best Foldable: UDG Ultimate Fold Out DJ Table Mk2 Plus

Size:                55” x 36” x 19” (assembled) and 33” x 36” x 5” (stored)

Price:              $330

If you need a portable DJ table, the UDG Ultimate Fold Out DJ Table could be an excellent pick. DJ Digital Tips describes it as “properly durable, feels well made, is clever in the way it folds out and back down again while staying as one piece.” Plus, the reviewers said it took up very little room either assembled or stored. 

It is a heavy table, which is sort of a pro/con because its heaviness means it is well made from quality materials, which makes it durable. That said, DJ Digital Tips also appreciated that it had wheels to get it in and out of the gig. 

Most Durable: DEEJAYLED TBH Flight Case Universal Fold Out DJ table

Size:                36” x 30” x 21” (assembled) 

Price:              $184

If you need a table that can stand up to a lot of physical tests, this one my work for you. DJ Tech Reviews think that this one has high-quality materials throughout its construction. The ball corners are “heavy duty,” which enhances the table’s stability. However, some other pros are that it can stack, is compact and foldable (making it easier for DJs with gigs all over town), and it has lots of extra space when it is assembled. Plus, it folds down in minutes. 

The only drawbacks DJ Tech Reviews mentions are that the legs are what they are; you can’t extend them if you need the workspace higher. In general, the criticism is that it has minimal adjustment options. Therefore, it is essential that you determine if this table “fits you” before you invest in it. 

Best for Affordability: Gator Frameworks Utility DJ Table Top and X-Style Keyboard Stand

Size:                32” x 18”

Price:              $139

When it comes to affordability, a DJ is looking for the best they can hope for with the price they can afford. So, while this option doesn’t have all the features or prestige of other DJ tables out there, it has some great features that do pretty well for the investment involved. 

DJ Tech Reviews likes this Gator Frameworks Utility DJ Table Top and X-Style Keyboard stand for its durability and workspace available. The perforated surface gives some much-needed ventilation to your equipment. Also, the X-Style stand, and material construction is designed to keep it secure and stable. In addition, it can adjust to a 40 in height, so it provides an opportunity to use it while standing (provided you aren’t a former member of the NBA). 

However, there are a couple of drawbacks. For example, it’s not as adjustable as some of the other in this class. Plus, reviewers say that it’s heavy, which can make it difficult to haul around.  

Amazon’s Choice for Affordability: DJ Table Stand by AxcessAbles

Size:                27.5” x 16”

Price:              $110

Now, to be fair, this is Amazon’s pick, not ours. However, it is interesting that it has 81 reviews and 4.5 stars. Also, the price is affordable, putting it within reach of nearly any DJ. Also, the Double-X Braced Keyboard Stand and Vented media Table Tray are features that can make it seem a little more expensive than it is. This one adjusts from 30.25” to 37.5”, and it locks at whatever height you choose. Plus it folds flat when you break it down, making it easier to store and transport. 

Best for Brandability: Sound Town 14U PA DJ Rack ATA Case

Size:                14U rack space, 20” Deep

Price:              $499

If you want to look good while doing your set and have a little more scratch in the budget, you might like the Sound Town 14U PA DJ Rack ATA Case.  Reviewers like it for equipment protection and the high-quality materials, with steel and plywood and secure latches. The table provides an abundance of internal space, as well as stand space on the surface. Plus, it just looks good, giving your whole set up a professional look. 

However, reviewers also say you have to be careful with this one because the wood suffers damage easily. Also, be sure the dimensions work for you. Criticism of this table is that it isn’t that adjustable.
