Zhu Teams With Skrillex And THEY On A New Track
Steven Zhu, aka Zhu, burst onto the electronica scene in 2014 with “Moves Like Ms Jackson” which was a mix of Outkast songs. Unlike many DJs and the like who appreciate the fame that comes with success, Zhu actually cultivated anonymity during the early part of his career. Would you do that? His reason was that he wanted people to judge his music, not him. I’m not sure what he felt it was about himself that would cloud people’s judgement of his talent.
Anyway, his latest contribution to electronica is a collaboration with Skrillex and THEY on a track called “Working For It”. The video features mostly black and white animation, kind of in the style of Sin City. The scene cut-aways and transitions between one metaphor to another highlight the lines between life and death and success and disaster that a hired assassin must walk.
The style of this video is definitely a step away from the typical video in this genre. What do you think of it?
