Richie Hawtin and Andy Rigby-Jones have recently released the first piece of DJ equipment under its PLAYdifferently brand. That piece of equipment is actually a mixer. The main difference, according to its creators, is that it promises to help “unlock [DJs’] innate creativity.”

It seems that with each piece of equipment or technology, the goal is to make DJing easier. First, you had to master vinyl. Then, once CDJs came onto the market, you didn’t have to master vinyl anymore. Now with digital technology, Doing seems to have become even easier. Digital is the great leveller – as long as you can afford the technology, of course.
