If you’re familiar with Serato DJ, then you’ve probably come across something called Beat Jump. It’s a feature that allows you to move forward or backward in the track. You determine how much you want to move forward or backward, and the system will make sure that the jump remains in time. Anytime you want to give “yourself more time to mix, [jump] straight to the hook and [skip] that slow section in the track”, you just activate Beat Jump and you’re totally in control of the sound you want to achieve.

Here’s how to activate it:

  1. Make sure you have the latest Serato DJ update.
  2. Once the Serato DJ set up screen is open, select “Show Beat Jump Controls” in the DJ Preferences tab.
  3. The Beat Jump controls can be found under the looping controls. Choose the Beat Jump amount you’d like and click the arrow forward or backward for the jump. Even if the end place is out of time, the feature will make sure that it’s all in time.
