One of the greatest things I learned through my school years was to ask questions. One question in particular has proven to be very enlightening. That question is this: what problem does it solve?

When a salesperson monopolizes my time, explaining to me the ins and outs of some thing or another, I always enjoy tossing out that question and watching him squirm.

Ultimately, new technology must solve a real problem. Otherwise, it’s just noise, more of the same old, same old that won’t make a real difference to your life or work.

Aivvy (pronounced Ivy) is a new technology installed into headphones that allows the user to control every aspect of your listening pleasure – from choosing songs to adjusting volume – directly from the headphones.

The most dramatic part of Aivvy, and the problem that it solves, is that it doesn’t need to be connected to wifi for the user to download new music or access existing music files. Cool, eh? Imagine what this means for people living in parts of the world where wifi connectivity is sparse at best.

Aivvy headphones are priced at $299. Read more about the new product here.
