Were you one of the lucky ones? You know, one of the few who actually managed to buy a new Technics SL-1200 turntable?

I wrote about it here when we first heard Technics was going to release this new turntable. The new model went on sale first in Japan … and 30 minutes later … it was over. All in-stock models sold. If you balked at the $4000 price tag, you’re in the minority. Obviously, enough people (at least in Japan) were willing to pay the equivalent of about $3300 per unit. Wouldn’t you love to know how many people bought more than one unit? I would. Keep your eye on re-sale sites.

Don’t worry, though. Your chance of picking one of these up isn’t completely dead, although it is slim. Panasonic will be releasing just 900 more turntables for international sales … eventually.

Do you think this model is worth the wait, or the money? Or would you be as happy with a Technics SL1200 MK2 … or an entirely different turntable?
