A number of us might have found ourselves salivating over the relaunch of Technics’ iconic SL-1200 turntable. The price, however, was enough to make our eyes water.

Enter 2017, and Technics is offering DJs and other turntable enthusiasts a bit of a break … and an exciting new product.

The SL-1200GR turntable keeps a lot of the technical advances of the SL-1200G, but it comes in at a lower price point. It features

  • a coreless direct-drive motor,
  • a single surface-facing rotor magnet,
  • an aluminum and rubber construction that promises to eliminate resonance
  • a low-mass tone arm
  • it weighs a bit less than the SL-1200G

Technics also introduced the Grand Class SU-G700 stereo amplifier and the Grand Class SB-G90 speakers. Read more about them here.
