Nostalgia strikes again. First, vinyl made a huge comeback from near death after years of CDs and now digital and streaming services. Now, cassettes are back.

If you’re a regular reader of this blog, this won’t be news to you. We wrote about it a while ago. The question, as far as I’m concerned, is still “why?” Why would anyone ever go back to cassettes? Why would anyone willing want to deal with tape that can be easily damaged, spill out from the spool, get caught in the player’s mechanism?

Yes, it was the birth of the personal mixtape. But, beyond that, my memories of cassette tape aren’t exactly fond.

Clearly, someone doesn’t agree with me. Cassette sales actually increased 74% last year.

Enter the Elbow. This compact cassette player is still in concept stage. So, no word on whether or not it works well or when it might go on sale. Check out the details and the specs here.

So, would you buy it?
