The Next Big Thing, it seems, is something that’s been taking the turtablism world by storm. It’s the MIDI-mapped tone play cue points.

Remember when you had to map out eight cue points across MIDI pads? Ok, you probably still do it. You probably did it yesterday. It’s not a technique that’s going to disappear anytime soon. But, this new technique might be something fun to try.

Do this instead: map one cue point and all the pads around it will be automatically set to increase or decrease the key shift knob while “triggering that same cue point at the same time. This allows a DJ to take a single cue point and play it up or down in semi-tones.”
