If you’re in business for yourself, you know that one of the most challenging aspects of it has nothing to do with practicing your art. It has everything to do with marketing.

Some of us are lucky enough to have been born under some kind of self-promotion rainbow. Marketing just seems to come easier to some and not others.

So, here’s an idea ready made for DJs. Forget the old style of business cards printed on cardstock. Instead, pass out some business card vinyl.

Yes, that’s right … vinyl.

The Croatian Phonographic Association recently commissioned artist Ivan Dilberovic to create phonographic business cards as part of a Reduce-Reuse-Recycle initiative.

Dilberovic asked them to provide him with all the old records that hadn’t sold and were, instead, stored in a warehouse. He used a laser cutter to shape the record into a business card. Dilberovic managed to make ten standard-size cards out of one record.

Your business information is printed on each card. And because the grooves in each part of the record are unique, each business card is different. Dilberovic says, “There are no two of those that look the same, and the best part is that each of them has it’s (sic) own sound signature. I’ve tried it and they are still playable” (Dilberovic).

What do you think of the look?
