In an effort to find ways to ease the effects of addiction, obesity, and depression, researchers discovered that they could also manipulate people’s taste in music. It all has to do with the amount of magnetic pulses that are directed to a certain area of the brain.
When scientists increased pulses to the area of the brain that controls the release of dopamine, participants reported liking the music that scientists were playing for them … music that the participant had claimed they didn’t like! This is the first time that an experiment like this has changed people’s minds and feelings about something.
