In my ongoing effort to help you declutter and manage your DJ gear, vinyl and general collection of any sort, I’ve found another tip for you.

Putting everything in a digital format doesn’t always solve the problem. It’s easy to forget what you have if it’s not directly under your nose.

Sometimes, the only way to manage your collection is to actually pare it down. Ask yourself how often you use it. How important is it to your DJ work? I think you’ll be surprised at how much of your collection you actually don’t use.

You’d think the hardest part of this process is deciding what to keep and waht to discard. But, actually, the hardest part is knowing how to declutter properly. I’ve junked some stuff, thinking I’d never use it only to wish I’d kept it!

Marie Kondo is a “tidiness guru” whose popular method of organizing space can be easily applied to the DJ space.
