We can all agree that DJing is about a lot more than standing behind the decks and spinning a record or two. No doubt you’ve spent a lot of time refining the ways you get the best sound from all your equipment. The question, though, is do you really understand how that equipment produces that great sound?

How does a needle dancing across the grooves on a vinyl record sound like a song and not just a jumble of noise? How does a CDJ convert signals from digital to analog?

Although it’s true that you don’t really have to know how your equipment works in the finest of detail to be a great DJ, every bit of information does help you develop a better understanding of your equipment. Once you have a complete knowledge of how a certain piece of equipment is supposed to work, you can better judge how well it (or its competitors) stacks up.
