Redbull Music Academy has done something probably none of us thought was important to do or even necessary. They’ve dedicated a webpage to discussing how a record player works.

Think about it for a second. A record is just pressed vinyl. The vinyl has grooves embedded into it. Somehow letting a stylus skip in and over those grooves produces sound. Not just any sound. The grooves produce vocals, instruments … in short the music we want to hear.

How does that actually work? Glad you asked. Redbull’s glad, too.
