This is my mantra: no matter what happens, it can always be worse.
Some people just don’t get it. They think I’m being flippant when I say that. The truth is that I’m keenly aware that situations can really go down hill. I’ve been there. So, I just try really hard to remember that whatever bad thing might be happening to me, I’ll get through it somehow. It’s kinda like a glass is half full idea.
DJing is like tempting Murphy’s Law. There’s so much that can go wrong. You’ve got gear that might breathe its last breath for no apparent reason; cables that suddenly sizzle; people who’s general mood might shift dramatically. You name it, the potential for disaster is huge when you’re DJing.
If it’s happened to you (and it most likely has), you should never feel like you’re the only one. Skrillex, Dillon Francis, anyone you can think of, has had those moments … those gigs … where nothing seemed to go right.
So, pour yourself a glass, sit awhile, and have a laugh at some of the crazy stuff you’ve experienced as a DJ.
