Most tracks come in explicit and clean versions. How do you decide which to play? I would hope that a big part of your decision comes from thinking about who’s employing you and who the crowd is. It’s probably a no-brainer to say that you won’t play explicit versions at a kids’ event.

But, if you’re DJing an adult event, do you ever give serious thought to what’s in the versions you’re spinning? Do you ever think that a particular version of a song might offend people? Swearing, slang, any other kind of blue language is pretty common in general conversation. You might not speak that way at work, but I’m guessing no one is shocked when those words are spoken in a social setting. But, what about slurs of one kind or another?
