Bruce Springsteen refused to allow Ronald Reagan to play “Born In the USA” way back when. More recently, Dee Snider, former frontman of Twisted Sister, seems to still be ok with Donald Trump playing “We’re Not Going To Take It” at his political rallies. Republican Senator Marco Rubio, like Reagan, isn’t enjoying Trump’s luck.

DJ Axwell has sent Rubio an official (read: legal) cease and desist order. Axwell wants to be very sure that Rubio no longer plays his song, “Something New” at his rallies.

Rubio has been announcing to all who’ll listen that he’s a lover of EDM. But who does he think he’s kidding? Rubio’s musical taste is constructed for a very specific purpose. He’s desperate to attract a younger audience and their very crucial vote.

Rubio claims that Axwell (and a whole bunch of other DJs apparently) refuse to allow him to play their music because they’re Swedish and don’t care about American politics. Hmm, really? I doubt Axwell would refuse that degree of publicity simply because he’s not political. More likely, Axwell – and all the other DJs who Rubio approached – don’t want to be associated with his opinions and politics. Put that on your turntable and spin it, Marco.
