  • Owning pro gear won’t make you great.
  • Spinning vinyl is fun, but they won’t make you an expert.
  • Having access to thousands of songs won’t produce amazing mixes.
  • Relying on sync won’t solve all your beatmatching issues.
  • Not using sync also won’t solve all your beatmatching issues.
  • Playing the most popular hits won’t make you a popular DJ.
  • Not playing the most popular hits at all will also kill your popularity.
  • Overusing fx is only fun for beginners.
  • Dancing behind the decks only works if it makes your set better.
  • Social media is king, but having lots of likes doesn’t make you a great DJ.

What will make you great?

  • Know who you are, what you like, and what you’re good at.
  • Know your audience.
  • Practice, practice, practice.
